Kinky Boots at the Regent Theatre in Hanley is a dazzling, heart-warming triumph that blends infectious music, bold performances, and a message of acceptance into a night of pure joy.

The Regent Theatre’s staging of Kinky Boots (running 26–30 November 2025) brings the Broadway and West End smash-hit to Stoke-on-Trent in a brand-new UK tour. Directed by Nikolai Foster, the show retains its signature sparkle while injecting fresh energy into the story of Charlie Price, a young man struggling to save his family’s failing Northampton shoe factory, and Lola, the drag queen whose vision and courage transform both the business and Charlie’s outlook on life.

Dan Partridge (Charlie Price) delivers a nuanced performance, balancing vulnerability with determination. His journey from reluctant heir to inspired leader feels authentic and deeply moving.

Tosh Wanogho-Maud shines as Lola, commanding the stage with charisma, wit, and emotional depth. His rendition of “Hold Me in Your Heart” is a showstopper, earning thunderous applause.

Courtney Bowman (Lauren) injects comic timing and warmth, particularly in her hilarious solo “The History of Wrong Guys.”

Supporting cast members, including Scott Paige, bring vibrancy and humour, ensuring the ensemble scenes are electric.

The score by Cyndi Lauper is as irresistible as ever, with songs like “Raise You Up” and “Everybody Say Yeah” turning the Regent Theatre into a celebration of individuality. The live band keeps the energy high, and the choreography transforms the stage into a catwalk of glitter, leather, and—of course—fabulous boots.

At its core, Kinky Boots is about friendship, acceptance, and daring to be yourself. The Regent Theatre audience responded with standing ovations, clearly moved by the show’s message that “you can change the world when you change your mind.” The production balances humour with heartfelt moments, making it both entertaining and thought-provoking.

This Regent Theatre production proves why Kinky Boots remains a modern classic. With powerhouse performances, uplifting music, and a glittering design, it’s a must-see for anyone craving theatre that entertains while celebrating diversity and resilience.
