Based on Lawrence Kasdan’s 1992 Oscar nominated Warner Bros. movie starring Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner, the international, award-winning, smash-hit musical THE BODYGUARD, is back with a UK tour in 2025 – 2026!

To date, THE BODYGUARD has played to over 3.9 million people in 15 countries and 45 US cities. Countries include the Netherlands, Germany, South Korea, Canada, Italy, Australia, Spain, France, the US, Austria and Japan.

A ‘BRILLIANT!’ (The Times), breathtakingly romantic thriller, THE BODYGUARD features a whole host of irresistible classics including Queen of the Night, So Emotional, One Moment in Time, Saving All My Love, Run to You, I Have Nothing, Greatest Love Of All, Million Dollar Bill, I Wanna Dance With Somebody and one of the greatest hit songs of all time – I Will Always Love You.

The show leans fully into the nostalgia of the original film and, more importantly, the brilliant catalogue of Whitney Houston hits. The likes of “I Have Nothing”, “How Will I Know”, “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” and especially “I Will Always Love You” deliver major emotional impact with honest and emotional energy.

The production of the show is strong with flowing set-changes, strong lighting and a real “concert-meets-theatre” feel. When it starts you feel like you are at a Whitney Houston show. There are standout performances across the cast of course it goes without saying Sidonie Smith had huge shoes to fill playing the role of Rachel Marron who was played in the film by Whitney herself, Adam Garcia shines as Frank Farmer, but for me vocally the standout on the night was the performance and vocal range of Sasha Monique who played the role of Nicki Marron. Flawless powerful and drew you in.

We would also like to pay a huge compliment to the young performer Cale Cole who played Fletcher, especially his dancing and singing ability which was phenomenal for someone so young. A star of the future and one to watch.

If you enjoy Whitney Houston’s music, love a big, theatrical spectacle, and are looking for an evening of entertainment that blends thriller-drama and pop concert energy, then this production ticks all the boxes.

The Bodyguard is at the Regent Theatre in Hanley until Saturday 8th November.
