From a fantastic set, to an amazing live band to a great cast, The Addams Family, The Musical Comedy doesn’t disappoint.

Truly wicked, amazing, mischievous and full of mayhem, the maginificent Addams Family at the Regent is an unmissable show.

The musical sparkled with lighter, humour and showed us the disfunctional side on the traditional Addams Family, but with a twist!

The show delighted the audience with many humorous moments at the likes of Uncle Fester’s “This is no way to end an act?” and “leave you depressed at the end […] I guess we’ll find out,” who for me stole the show, and was the one who got the first standing ovation at the end. His performance played by Matt Slack, together with that of Cameron Blakeley who played Gomez, were the standout performances of the night. Not taking away the brilliance of the other cast members including the amazing Joanne Clifton as Morticia.

The plot follows the heart-warming, love story of Wednesday Addams (Kingsley Morton) and Lucas (Ahmed Hamad) and if a little ghostly, Addams Family celebrating life and the death of their ancestors (who are resurrected at the beginning of the musical). The “normal” family get to meet the Addams’ and this is where the comedy and sets take place.

I was particularly impressed with the set design with staircases, balconys and graveyards alike.

Stunning lyrics and vocals throughout with fantastic performances from all cast members.

At the end of the show I questioned myself who was the standout performance, it was swaying from Gomez to Lurch to Uncle Fester to Pugsley to Wednesday, which prompted me to think all characters and actors bought something different to this fantastic show.

Mentioning Lurch, you are in for a nice surprise at the end of the show and his character played by Ryan Bennett drew the most laughs from the audience.

Overall, you are in for a great night, one not to be missed.

The Addams Family, The Musical Comedy is at the Regent Theatre, Hanley until Saturday 2nd April 2022.
